On 8th May Russian school RUBRIC in Worcester has had a
traditional celebration of the Victory Day. The teachers run the
Memorial lessons and had talks and presentations about the WWII heroes and the
price paid by Russian people for the Great Victory. After the lessons teachers, pupils and their parents went to the War
Memorial in Coventry. They had a moment of silence to pay respect to those who
died during the war and then put on the steps of the War Memorial the red
carnation - as a symbol of the blood spilled by the heroes for the Victory.
On the next day the Russian school pupils together with their parents
and the teachers took part in the Victory Day concert. This concert was the
final point of the auto-rally devoted to the Victory Day. About 50 cars drove approx.
100 miles from London to Coventry. Children really enjoyed that community
celebration and expressed their wish to participate in it next year. Photos |
